The Museum holds a wealth of artefacts and archives from Prehistoric to the present day. With information for people researching their family history, militaria and railways to information and learning boxes for schools.
The Blandford Museum interacts with the local community through a variety of special interest clubs. When you join the museum as a member you can join the museum directly or can join as a member of one of several museum clubs, information about which can be accessed by the links on the left.
The Museum Garden Club do a wonderful job tending our authentic Victorian Garden producing both plants and produce which are available to buy in the shop.
Blandford Forum Railway Club works on a model of the former Blandford Forum Station which was featured in the February 2011 edition of Railway Modeller. A permanent exhibition in the museum, it was also built to be removable to be exhibited at Railway exhibitions. Alongside the model of Blandford Station the Railway Club is an interactive layout featuring ‘Thomas and Henry’ for children to play with.
The Museum’s Living History Project is working on recording oral histories from people in Blandford and the surrounding villages both through sound and other media, finding and digitising old film/video and recording current events for future historians.
