Nobody ever forgets their first sight of Blickling. The breath-taking Jacobean mansion and ancient yew hedges sit at the heart of a magnificent garden and historic park in the beautiful Bure meadows.
See the house in a different light this year, as we welcome visitors to observe our conservation work in action every day of the week*. Enjoy a varied experience each time you visit and learn something new about Blickling’s rich history and the care taken to preserve it.
From May to October, we are shining a light on our eighteenth century Long Gallery library. The collection contains over 12,500 volumes and is the most prestigious book collection held by National Trust. As part of the Trust New Art contemporary arts programme, we’re working with award-winning theatre company Les Enfants Terribles. Their installation, ‘The Word Defiant!’ will use sound and theatrical design to explore the importance of books and the threat posed to them around the world.
Surrounding the house, the formal garden is the result of three centuries of inspired planting, and the gently undulating historic parkland is great for exploring. Grab a map of way-marked walks or our multi-use trail and head out into the park. Keep your eyes open for intriguing landmarks, stunning views and wildlife.
Blickling has always been a place of pilgrimage and tranquillity. Today, it continues to extend the warmest of welcomes to all who come here.
