Founded in 1810 on the Queen Street site, the Museum today includes the only Lancasterian Schoolroom (1837) in the world and a rare Galleried Classroom (1853). Museum displays are housed in the 1857 Girl's and Infants' School and the 1902 Edwardian classrooms. This is the most unique and interesting collection of classrooms to be found anywhere. The Headmaster's House is undergoing restoration, and furnishing in the 1890 style. The museum houses the Jill Grey collection of educational and childhood memorabilia, selections from which are regularly shown.
